Matthew·Faith·22 of 34
Ask, seek, knock
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Matthew 7:7–8 · King James Version
The universe of Spirit answers movement toward it. Asking is a way of standing in reception.
An inner reading
Three verbs, three distances. Asking is the open hand. Seeking is the turned foot. Knocking is presence at a door you have actually reached. None of them is passive wishing, and none of them is anxious forcing. They are agreements to be in contact with a giving that the next sentence calls universal: every one that asketh receiveth.
Metaphysically, what is given is not always the object the surface mind named. The surface mind often asks for a rearrangement of fear. The deeper ask — the one the kingdom hears — is for the good itself, for truth, for the door into a larger room. Seeking finds because reality is not hiding from attention that is sincere. The door opens from the inside of a mind that has come all the way up to it.
