Matthew·The kingdom within·3 of 34
As a little child
Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 18:3–4 · King James Version
Entrance is a turning: from the managed self back to unguarded receptivity.
An inner reading
“Converted” here is a turning around, not a change of team. The adult mind enters every room already explaining it. A child has not yet made a career of that explanation. Greatness in the kingdom is this humility: receiving before judging, wondering before managing.
Metaphysically, the child is not naivete. It is consciousness before it hardens into a separate self with a reputation to protect. You do not crawl back into infancy. You let the hardened layer become transparent again, so the kingdom is not something you storm. It is something you can finally fit through.
